The Danish integrated antimicrobial resistance monitoring and research programme, DANMAP, will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026. Established in 1995, DANMAP has since monitored the use of antibiotics in humans and animals, as well as the occurrence of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria from food-producing animals, food, and humans. DANMAP also investigates the relationships between antimicrobial use and the occurrence of resistance, thereby providing knowledge that supports risk assessments and decision-making processes by authorities and policymakers.

Statens Serum Institut (SSI) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) are responsible for the monitoring activities and for communicating the results to relevant stakeholders and the general public. Each year, a new DANMAP report is published, presenting the results of the previous year’s monitoring as well as analyses of trends over time. Since 2021, SSI and DTU have also published a summary report, Summary DANMAP, aimed at a broader audience seeking a concise and accessible overview of the results, including journalists, policymakers, and public authorities.

The 30th anniversary has prompted reflection on how DANMAP’s communication can be improved and made more relevant. The DANMAP team has therefore decided to further develop Summary DANMAP to include more intersectoral perspectives, a stronger focus on One Health, and a more integrated interpretation of antimicrobial use and resistance data. The new format will also include monitoring of the national action plans on antimicrobial resistance.

The team is therefore seeking help in finding a new name for Summary DANMAP that better reflects its updated content. Below, you can take part in the competition and submit your suggestion for the best new name. The winner will be announced at the DANMAP Seminar on 18 November 2026, where the prize will be presented.
